BrightStar Care of Westfield and Summit is recruiting 2 full-time Physical Therapists, (PTs), for a very large, multi-practice, well-established, orthopedic group located in Union County. The PT(s) will be hired as a full-time employee working a 40 hour work week in the Union, NJ facility, joining the PT/OT Rehab program.

Summary:

The physical therapist will be responsible for providing patient care including assessing, interpreting, planning and implementing specialized physical therapy treatments.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care: Performs evaluation and re-evaluation of patient

  • Assessment: Interprets evaluation data, history and applicable medical documentation to determine rehabilitation and potential benefit from intervention; identifies physical, social, and psychological needs of the patient, family, and significant other.

  • Goal Setting: Utilizes patient, family, caregiver input in setting functional rehabilitation goals; Document goals in measurable terms with stated time frames

  • Treatment Planning: Facilitates and implements current PT treatments: incorporates information gained in evaluation and assessment to determine appropriate, specific treatment plan for intervention.

  • Treatment Intervention: Demonstrates competence in performing all procedures and treatments required in area of practice, demonstrates awareness of continuity of patient care by following established plans; modifies patient care based on continual assessment of the patient and effect of treatment intervention; demonstrates skills in identifying, interpreting and incorporating patient's psychological, physical, and social responses to intervention; recommends/provides equipment or supplies for home use; and provides for patient's personal care and environment throughout treatment.

  • Patient education: Provides education appropriate to each patient's level of understanding regarding evaluation, treatment, and self-responsibility and instructs in home treatment program to facilitate rehabilitation and promote independence in care as appropriate.

  • Discharge planning: Collaborates with patient, caregivers, and other health care professionals in planning discharge from rehabilitation services

  • Communication: Confers and communicates with referring physicians and other appropriate persons through the use of progress notes, letters, evaluations, team meetings, and direct contact concerning the proposed course, progress and discharge plan of each patient

Other Duties:

  • Maintains and respects the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with company policy and procedure, and HIPAA & compliance guidelines

  • Complies with HIPAA, OSHA, and Red Flag Rules

  • Complies and follows Medicare and other third-party payers' guidelines and rules; Provide PT care that complies with organizations best practices, standards, policies and procedures.

  • Complies with federal and state guidelines, including all licensing requirements

  • Attends all regular staff meetings and continuing education sessions as required

  • Maintains regular attendance

  • Presents professional image in manner, appearance, motivation, and work habits

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree or higher degree in physical therapy or Certificate in Physical Therapy from an APTA-accredited education program

  • Passed a National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) and/or state examination required by the state

  • State licensure in state where care is being provided

  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience, preferably in a medical practice environment

  • Knowledge of HIPPA & OSHA guidelines

  • Working knowledge of medical practice management systems and electronic medical records

  • Basic knowledge of computers and medical terminology is mandatory

  • Excellent verbal, written, critical thinking and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients and others
